Millennials are Moving to these California Cities for Better Opportunities

Millennials are Moving to these California Cities for Better Opportunities

Dec 20, 2018 | California News, Employment / Jobs |

According to recent studies by finance website Magnify Money, six of the top 50 best cities in the United States for millennials are in California. These cities provide millennials plenty of job opportunities and higher pay. One of Magnify Money’s studies focused on America’s “top boomtowns,” and analyzed industry growth, population, housing and jobs. Another study took that data and applied it to millennials to determine the top 50 metro areas for them. The report stated,

Interestingly, millennial populations actually decreased in nine of the 50 metros we analyzed, which demonstrates that many millennials are actively migrating.

The six California cities that made it onto the top 50 list are: San Francisco (1st), San Jose (5th), Los Angeles (29th), San Diego (40th), Sacramento (41st), and Riverside (43rd). The top 10 cities on the list, in order from first to last, are: San Francisco, Denver, Austin, Nashville, San Jose, Raleigh, Portland, Seattle, Oklahoma City and Dallas. The results of the studies are based on a 5-year period from 2011-2016 and population changes during that same time period for people born between 1981 and 1991. The study also analyzed millennial participation in a metro area’s labor force, millennial unemployment rate, and median wages. It’s going to be interesting to see how the top 50 list changes in a couple years.
